Motorcycle Group AGM 17 – 21 October
31 vans arrived on site on Thursday afternoon. We all gravitated to the Ogri hall throughout the afternoon to meet up with friends old and new. This went on into the evening when the bar opened.
On Friday, Martin led 15 bikes on the ride out to Avebury and the REME Museum and Cafe at Lyneham. More vans had arrived during the day, making a total of 39 on site.
In the evening we gathered in the hall. Burgers and hot dogs were on sale. We had a 4 part Quiz which was won by the Magnificent Seven Team.
After the prizes were awarded, the Crocs and Socks dancers did a Croc shuffle to Crocodile Rock. Some said they were just a load of ‘old crocs’. But we know there is nothing wrong with wearing your Crocs and Socks together!
This was followed by a singer and disco to finish.
Saturday. The day began at 8:00 for some, who watched the Rugby in the Clubhouse. England versus Australia.
Late morning we had the AGM and Members meeting followed by a buffet.
Following the AGM, 7 motorbikes went to Stonehenge led by Martin and 6 bikes went to Warminster on a shorter ride led by Adrian.
Some of us went into Cirencester on a Minibus that the Committee had organised.
In the evening we came together again in the Clubhouse for a Glam Rock band called Ballroom Blitz. We listened to a brilliant first set of music bringing back memorable songs from Sweet, T Rex and Bay City Rollers. The floor was full of dancers.
However, Kemble Airport had an electrical outage and we lost power in the Clubhouse too. So the band could not continue but as we sat in the dark with torches we started singing and the Dunkirk Spirit set in. The band were able to play their guitars and encouraged the singalong. It was a room of laughter and merriment.
On Sunday, we gathered again for Coffee Morning and the Raffle. A gang of us went into Cirencester in the afternoon on the minibus. What a lovely town Cirencester is. Quaint Cotswold stone buildings and shops. We visited the church and the museum. Hares are the theme in the town with a statue of fighting hares outside the church and a hare Festival is held every year.
13 Bikes went on a Ride Out to Bradford on Avon led by Martin.
Many vans had left by the evening but the rest of us went to the Clubhouse to watch a movie- ‘Now You See Me’ – About a group of Magicians and a bank robbery.
Monday, we said our goodbyes and left site.
This is the last rally for the Motorcycle Group this year.
